What is Equine Assisted Psychotherapy?
‘EAP’ is an effective therapeutic and behavioural change approach which is applied to a wide variety of psychological health, mental health, behavioural and group issue
The team that delivers this approach is made up of a mental health professional, an equine specialist and our twelve horses.
Activities with the horses are designed to mimic real life issues. This allows clients and the therapeutic team to “see” where the problems are and to find solutions that work.
Clients quickly recognise unhelpful patterns of thinking, feeling or behaviour so that they are enabled to make adjustments and find new ways of being and relating.
Clear goals for the work are negotiated, the learning is experiential, and solution focussed. EAP involves clients in doing an activity, being active in the ‘now’ and finding their own answers provides a faster and more permanent change.
All activities occur on the ground, there is no riding involved.
What is Equine Assisted Learning?
The experiential learning approach promotes the development of life skills for
educational, professional and personal goals through equine-assisted activities.
Through horse observations, it gives the therapeutic team the opportunity to
help clients build confidence and increase self-esteem.
Who do we support?
Everyone.... individuals or groups
Those challenged with depression, anxiety and stress related illnesses.
The team work with people of all ages with varied degrees of mental health.
